The 2009 Ocean Series Bondi to Watsons Bay Ocean Race ran really well. It was the first time that this course has been run as part of the SLSC’s Ocean Series events, and everyone involved should be very pleased with a safe, fun, highly successful event. Congratulations to everyone who put in a lot of work to make this event happen.

For the 122 Blast Paddlers who took part in the first ever running of the Bondi to Watsons Bay race, congratulations for putting in some great times, it was great to see us all getting behind these events, and I can’t tell you how proud I felt seeing all the familiar faces coming in at the finish.

For anyone who could not make it, you really missed a great paddle, make sure you put it in your calendar for 2010. This is an event that we will look forward to paddling every year now.

We’ve now received the final formal approval from Marcial Nunura the Series Director with sign off of the results, and Marcial has now posted a PDF copy of the results on the official Ocean Series web site with a link to down load the results from the series web site. Blast members can view the results online from the Blast RMS as usual under Results. Check out how you went – some cracking times there!

I’ll get myself a bit of spare time and a hot Milo and pen an update to this post with some more detailed coverage of Round three of the 2009 Ocean Series, the Bondi to Watsons Bay race, over the next day or two, as there were some interesting highlights to share at both ends of the race.

I’ve made a Slide Show style Movie again similar to the one I did for the Lion Island race, this one is around 10 mins long, it’s made using the Blast photos, and I’m pretty sure I’ve again managed to capture everyone that entered the race (well, except for the double ski #264 that pulled out before the start of the race).

And while I finish cleaning up and uploading the hundreds and hundreds of photos in the entire image gallery, here’s a short gallery for you to enjoy, I’ll post the whole set of galleries as soon as I can. Enjoy!
